Why Do You Need a Smart Sump P...

Much like the computer in your car, the Basement Defender monitors your sump pump system. Your car will alert you if you need an oil change, your tire pressure is low, or check engine light, which means you need to get to the dealer ASAP. You can choose to ignore the warnings, call for emergency service, or you can set a service appointment with your dealer. How you respond to the alert is entirely up to you. Basement Defender™ is much the same,in that it will send you alerts, but you are required to act upon them.

Data recording:

A feature that many dealers don’t realize is that Basement Defender records all the data of their customers’ Sump pump systems, which you or the homeowner can view remotely. For dealers they can see what the issue is before they go on a service call, or even test the system remotely.

Record sales for Basement Defender and Perma-Seal Basement Systems.

In Chicago we had a record 9.5 inches of rain in May. In record rainfall, Basement Defender gives you peace of mind to know your system is performing, knowing you will be alerted when there is an issue.

While Basement Defender™ can’t protect you from city sewer backups, it can certainly alert you ahead of time if you pump fails, before a disaster event.

You can have a Defender on your ejector or sewer backup pump as well, all on one account.

I sat down with Perma-Seal’s Installation Director, Jim Barry, to discuss the changes he has seen with Basement DefenderTM.

Well first off we are installing a lot of them now: one with every pump system.

The bonus from the Basement Defende has been being able to see the data from a storm event. You can see when each pump ran, how long it ran, and when alerts were sent.

We had a customer that flooded with a Basement Defender and was sent many alerts during a storm. They flooded from the storm sewer water backing up. The Basement Defender recorded all the data from the storm and when they flooded. You can clearly see what happened when the systems were overwhelmed. The data doesn’t lie.

Not only did the Basement Defender notify the homeowner of imminent flooding, we were able to see that our system performed throughout the event. The Basement Defender™ has not failed homeowners when installed properly.

This is a game changer for dealer service, knowing what happened during a storm event down to every time the pump ran, what time it ran,and how long it ran.

EXPECTATIONS:

Basement Defender is not a 24/7 emergency service. Ultimately it’s up to the homeowner to take action from alerts. Some dealers offer emergency response plans with the Basement Check with your Basement Defender dealer to find out more.
